"What we did not properly appreciate is that preferences determine how scientific expertise is used, and that our preferences might be—indeed, our preferences were—very different from many of the people that we serve. We created policy based on our preferences, then justified it using data. And then we portrayed those opposing our efforts as misguided, ignorant, selfish, and evil.
"We made science a team sport, and in so doing, we made it no longer science. It became us versus them, and 'they' responded the only way anyone might expect them to: by resisting."
Outstanding. Kevin Bass isn't merely admitting that the establishment was wrong because the data disproved their methods (like so many apologists are doing); he's going for the moral jugular by admitting that THE ENDS DO NOT JUSTIFY THE MEANS. And it's something most in the establishment aren't even touching. They still maintain the "hindsight is 20:20" authoritarian excuse. As a result, they remain SCUM while Kevin washes himself of it.

@arzachel Damn. "The CDC recently codified International Classification of Disease (ICD) codes for Covid-19 vaccine status. ICD codes are extensively used in medical records, medical insurance data and health research to classify precisely disease states as well as injuries from exogenous agents such as accidents, medication and medical device injuries, toxic chemicals, etc. Vaccination status is not a disease or an injury state, yet CDC has rationalized creating ICD codes for it."
