The data they're collecting is basically useless for the development of AI, except with regards to analyzing the USA public to find dissidents that can topple this government and manipulate them.

The economically valuable data is in data from autonomous machines, which the USA hasn't even built yet because it's major concern is preventing democratic processes that would throw out their cabal.

The end result will almost certainly be that everyone dies. If you can't get out of a prison where you don't find continuing life to be worth while, but you can burn it down, you probably will.
