@arzachel only because American's are importing like 65% of their food. That's not gonna fly after civilization collapses sometime this century.
In any case, there isn't enough room in America for both cows and humans. unless each person had a maximum of 1 cow, and otherwise had an exclusively plant based diet. Still it would require that all currently available private land be redistributed so each American would get the equivalent of 2 global hectares.
