@polarisera @arzachel Same thing happened when I was in Thailand in March 2020. Almost from the moment I arrived, everyone was wearing masks and there were 1000's of homemade ones on the street for $1.
It was as though the whole country - or at least the two big cities I was in - was instantly brainwashed into thinking a flop of fabric would protect them, rather than the Buddha they had counted on for centuries.
Like everywhere else, temples were soon completely closed to the public, even the outdoor areas.
Thailand is still counting 'deaths' and 'cases' like every other bought in country. Sad.
