Look up Edison Motors from Canada on youtube. They started building hybrid semis and are partnering with paces in the US to retrofit older 3/4 and up trucks. Their 1st semi was a logging truck & they knew they could reclaim up to ~80% of the battery coming down a mountain loaded vs going back up empty.
